Knockaclarig has produced many famous people
Knockaclarig is situated in north eastern Duhallow. It is a rural agricultural district set on the borders of Cork, Kerry and Limerick. The Church of Assumption (1952) and Knockaclarig National School (1891) are located in the area. The national school has been the recipient of various awards for it’s use of ICT in daily school activities and also in communicating with other schools both nationally and internationally.
Knockaclarig is located in a unique setting as it is the constituency of Cork North-West in County Cork while at the same time in the Diocese of Kerry. The area has an association with the Earl Of Desmond during the Plantation of Munster in the late 16th century.
For an area of such a small size, it has produced many famous people to mention but a few; Business men Denis Guiney and Joe Moran, Dan Hannon author of “Brosna Town”, Sister Consilio and Jack Roche internationally known in the EU.
