The purpose of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to identify, select, use and maintain commonly used horticultural tools and equipment.

Course Content

List common tools and equipment used in horticultural operations and workshops to include their primary use and
hazards associated with their use.
Describe safe operating practices for a range of tools and equipment to include both hand and power
Prepare power hand tools and equipment for use to include using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), pre-starting safety checks, mixing fuel, checking for leaks and damage while adhering to manufacturers’ recommendations and operators’ manuals
Use a range of hand tools safely including a hoe, rake, fork and spade
Use power hand tools safely including a two-stroke engine
powered strimmer and a hedge cutter.
Operate a pedestrian rotovator, scarifier, knapsack sprayer, mechanised raker, pedestrian mower, ride-on mower, trailing mower and compact-type tractor mower.
Maintain all equipment while in use to include setting height of cut, removing blade for maintenance, sharpening blade, refuelling, replacing cord or gut as needed, and maintaining lubrication and filters.
Prepare tools and equipment for storage to include cleaning and storage procedures
Operate within appropriate safety procedures to create and maintain a safe working environment including safety standards regarding lifting, carrying and handling plants, tools and equipment.

Mini Me Yoga Training

Title: An Introduction to Yoga and Positive Thinking for Children – A Workshop for Parents, Grandparents, Childcare Providers and Teachers.
In this 2.5-hour Mini Me Yoga workshop, parents, grandparents, childcare providers and teachers learn simple techniques for introducing 15 minutes a day of kids yoga and positive thinking to children using games and exercises designed to make it fun.
No experience with yoga is required! It’s fun for anyone.
Participants will learn

· Mediation
· The benefits of yoga
· Plus, at least 14 yoga poses.
It’s action pack and full of information as well as practical tools. An easy 15 minute a day program that is suitable for at home, in preschools, primary schools or community based groups. You will receive a pack of Magick Yoga cards and continued support from your Mini Me Yoga Cork Ambassador. It is an interactive workshop so be prepared to have fun! Participants are asked to bring a bottle of water and it is advisable to wear comfortable clothing. A pen and paper may be advisable if you wish to take notes. A summary and a certificate of attendance will be given to you at the end the workshop. Yoga mats are provided by the facilitator.
This course is CPD certified which means it can go towards your continued professional development.

The Mountain Skills (MS) training course provides a general introduction to hillwalking in Ireland and the basics of mountain navigation.
